Delusional Overview

A delusion is commonly defined as a fixed false belief. It is often used to describe a belief that is either false, fanciful or derived from deception. In psychiatry, the definition of delusion is necessarily more precise and implies that the belief is that it is the result of an illness.

However, delusions are of particular diagnostic importance in various psychotic disorders is used as a testing basis for schizophrenia, paraphrenia and mania in episodes of bipolar disorder.

Common traits of a delusional person:

certainty (held with absolute conviction)
incorrigibility (not changeable by compelling counterargument or proof to the contrary)
impossibility or falsity of content (implausible, bizarre or patently untrue)
